Threaded Memories Through the African Diaspora
An exhibition by William Rhodes
Curated by Dr Hassan Aliyu
Dates
15 September – 4 October
Threaded Memories Through the African Diaspora explores William Rhodes’s practice, rooted in African diasporic experience through materiality, cultural continuity, and the transmission of lived histories. It engages with intergenerational narratives within African and African American visual culture, extending the lineage of landmark exhibitions such as Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power (Tate, 2017), while addressing themes of empowerment, spirituality, resistance, and cultural reclamation.
